Working with images

I've changed the transparency of my image but the original inline image doesn't reflect this change. What's wrong?

Transparency and hot spot changes are propagated only after the image file is saved.

I know that dropping an image proxy onto my page creates an inline image, and dropping a page proxy into my text flow creates a link, but how do I create a link to an image?
Simple. Just hold the command key down when you drop the image proxy. This instructs PageMill to create a link to that image rather than insert the image itself.

Where does PageMill save the images created during a drag-and-drop from the Scrapbook?

All newly created images are placed inside a single folder called "Images" on the startup hard drive. The identity of this folder can be changed by using the Preferences dialog. It is important that you set this folder correctly for your site! If you forget to set this folder to the proper place within your site, and then you upload your site (without the images folder), all the uses of those images will be broken (i.e. a question mark will appear, because your server won't be able to find those images).

How do I insert a background image into my page?

There are two ways. The first way is to open the Attributes Inspector and set it to 'Page Attributes'. Then simply drag an image to the 'image well' on the right hand side of the Inspector. Alternatively, you could drop an image proxy on top of the page proxy in the top left corner of the document.

How do I get rid of the background image?

Open the Attributes Inspector and set it to 'Page Attributes' mode. Then click on the little trash can icon below the image well.

Why isn't the 'Save As' menu command enabled for images?

Currently, you can only save an existing image back to it's original location using the 'Save' command, or create a new copy of the image using the 'Save A Copy As' command. This allows PageMill to maintain the integrity of the links between the image displayed inline and the file for that image.
